What is DivX Format?

DivX is based on H.264 and was used as the first codec for Windows AVI container for its high compression and good quality. Now there are three DivX codecs: DivX, DivX Plus HD that uses the MKV/Matroska container with H.264 video and AAC audio, and DivX HEVC Ultra HD codec. Files with the .divx file extension are high-quality video codec files that have been compressed for the purpose of distributing digital videos via the Internet and playing on various devices. Therefore, DVDs owners would want to convert the disc to DivX formats.

Note: Converting DVDs to DivX won't ensure 100% original quality as it’s a compressed format. If the output quality is what you want, you can convert a DVD to ISO image, Video_TS folder, or MPG files.
