[Latest Updated: Jan. 18, 2019 by Donna Peng to DVD Ripping]

It is seemingly one of the most common errors when we try to rip a DVD with HandBrake on a Windows PC. But some HandBrake users may encounter the error message goes like:

"I click on the source of the DVD and I get an error saying 'No titles found. Please make sure you have selected a valid non copy protected source'. What am I doing wrong? Could it be that HandBrake isn't removing the copyrighted stuff?"

Why do you have Handbrake No Title Found Error, and how to solve it?

It means that one of the following is the case:

Case 1: Your HandBrake version is too old

Fix: HandBrake 1.2.0 is the latest version. If you got a version lower than 1.0.0, please download HandBrake 1.2.0 from official site: handbrake.fr. After installing, try to rip your DVD with the newest verson.

Case 2: You've selected an broken or damaged DVD disc.

Fix: Get a helpful repair program to fix scratched DVDs.

Case 3: No Title found error caused by copy protected source.

Fix: The big improved 1.0.0 version of HandBrake was released in December 2016 and now the latest version 1.2.0 is now available. But HandBrake isa DVD transcoder which still couldn't support copy-protected DVDs unless cooperating with libdvdcss. Libdvdcss is a free and open source software library as a part of VideoLAN project, to access and unscramble DVDs encrypted with CSS. However, HandBrake Libdvdcss is not working any more because it was removed from HandBrake since version 0.9.2.
