Step 1. Open HandBrake and load target DVD to encode.

Open HandBrake and you should see your DVD under "Source Selection" if you already input it into DVD drive. Now, choose your DVD. Then HandBrake will begin scanning the DVD immediately. After that, HandBrake will auto select main title, angle and range for you. If selected content isn't what you want, you can make adjustments based on your own needs.

Step 2. Specify output preset.

Navigate to "Presets", and then click its right arrow to select a desired preset. HandBrake offers over 70 presets to choose.

Additionally, you can move to tabs (Summary, Dimensions, Filters, Video...) below to perform other settings. For example, go to "Summary", click the drop-down arrow of "Format", and then choose MKV as the output format.

Step 3. Select save path.

At the bottom right corner, you should see a "Browse" button. Click it and then specify a folder to store the digital copy. Plus, you need to give the output a name and click "Save".
