PSP Games will be Available to Download After October 1st

  • Recently, Sony announced the UMD-less PSP Go. Sony's social media manager, Jeff Rubenstein said: "It's my understanding that just about everything hitting after October 1 will be available for download." He did however insinuate that the availability of third-party titles will be decided by the publisher/developer.
  • The PSP Go only play games for download due to its lack of UMD drive, it will mark the start of Sony's PSN onslaught.
  • Meanwhile, the PSP Go will include 16GB of internal storage, along with expandable memory via a Memory Stick Duo slot.
  • In addition, Sony plans to make upgrading to the PSP Go more workable with its large UMD collections by carry out some sorts of good-will program.
  • Actually, those plans have yet to be detailed in any significant way. It will be up to third-pary publishers whether or not they want to release their game on the PlayStation Network or not, but what kind of dumb publisher would throw away PSP Go? Compatibility right out of the gate?
  • Sony has only about 35 UMD titles available for download via PSN presently, stretch from $5.99 to $24.99.
