Why there always troubles when playback mkv video?

Question: I have ripped several Blu-ray movies to MKV format and I have noticed with my blu-ray rips that the video/audio is out of sync. i have tried VLC, WMP, and other players that claimed supporting MKV file, but have no luck at all. please tell me how to solve this issue.
