A Smart Way to Encourage People to Follow You Back on Twitter

What I share is a Twitter strategy, or say, a smart way to encourage the people you follow to follow you back. Only three steps -
1. Follow someone on Twitter.
2. Run a contest with interesting gift.
3. Encourage the people you follow to follow you back.

Before I specify HOW, I'd like to ask you a few questions.

How do you get followers when you have a new Twitter account?

The basic way - have an attractive name, a good avatar and a good bio; tweet well and tweet often. However, one week later, you may find that nobody followed you except your friends.

By searching on Internet, you were told - follow people, and they will follow you. Sounds great! Then, you began your journey of following people repeatedly.

Do the people you followed on Twitter follow you back?

I guess your answer is "Yes! But only a few people follow me back." Maybe "the more people you follow, the more followers you will get". Not really! Be careful your account might get suspended. Furthermore, it is such a tough work to get more followers on Twitter by following people repeatedly.

A smart way to encourage the people you followed to follow you back.

Like what I mentioned at the beginning of this article, you can -

1. Follow someone on Twitter first.
I don't mean to follow people randomly. Follow people -
1) who has real name. Or, at least it should not be random numbers or letters.
2) who has a complete profile including picture, bio.
3) who tweets well and tweets often.
4) who has at least 50 followers (you can turn their followers to your followers later.)
5) who also follow other people.
6) who has something in common with you, for example, your posts are mainly on Apple related topics.
7) other tips. You may learn more about "what kind of people should I follow" to make sure you are connecting with real people on Twitter or real Twitter fans, not spammers.

2. Run a contest with interesting gift.
When you follow someone on Twitter, most of them followed by you will go back to check your profile. Here is your chance! You may run a contest with some interesting gifts to encourage them to follow you back. You don't have to buy the gift. Here comes the key - you can email some commercial companies to free sponsor you their products as gifts. Some companies will be happy to do it because it is also a nice way to promote their products. Here is a partner offer for Twitter users from a company you may have interest.

3. Encourage the people you followed to follow you back.
You can set your rules according to your needs. I did it like this -
1) Follow me back.
2) Let me know you would like to participate by replying to my tweet.
3) Winners will be selected randomly.

Just a simple example. There are lots of Twitter strategies to encourage people to follow you back. This one is from my personal experience. You may try it. Wish you success.
